Cataract (ICD: H25-H28)

Cataract is a slowly progressive eye disease that leads to a clouding of the lens inside the eye. In 90 percent of the cases, it is a question of so-called age-related cataract, and it is the main cause of blindness throughout the world. The most common treatment is an operation under local anaesthesia and, with a low level of risk, this achieves very good success rates in restoring visual acuity.
